2019-20 DANCE GUARD
If you're attending El Camino Real CHS or associated middle schools(Hale) in the Fall and want to try out for El Camino Real's award-winning Dance Guard, clinic/auditions are being held May 28-31. A mandatory routine will be taught during the clinic on Monday through Thursday 3:30 to 6:00 p.m. in ECR's small gym. It is highly suggested that you attend all days of the clinic. The routine will be performed during the auditions on Friday 3:30 p.m. until everyone has tried out. No special requirements. Wear comfortable practice clothes and athletic shoes. Bring water and any snack you may need. Good luck!
Check our our "Videos" page for our past performances.
Summer Practice Schedule: Summer practice will be two afternoons a week for 3-1/2 hours each day. Dates to be determined. We understand that our Guard Members take vacations and that is not a problem. We ask that they let the coaches know as soon as possible which dates they will not be there.
Guard Camp: The last two weeks of summer vacation (July 28-August 2 and August 5-9, time to be determined). We ask that all Guard Members do their best not to make vacations plans for the entire two weeks of Guard Camp.
Fall Field Season: Four to five competitions on Saturdays (competitions to be determined).
Winter Guard Season: Five competitions plus Championships on weekends (competitions to be determined). Practice hours to be determined.
Cost: See 2019-20 estimated Schedule of Costs. Dance Guard is very lucky to have the school cover most of the expenses (costumes, poms poms, equipment, etc.) but there will be some expenses, such as personalized items (warm-ups, practice shirts, flag bags), tights, jazz shoes, ribbons, wreathes, make-up, etc. Individuals will be responsible for lost items which have been provided for by the school, such as poms poms or equipment. We attempt to cover most out of town expenses through fundraising, but that ability is based on the fundraising participation and success.
Of course, Guard Members can elect to purchase items if they want to keep them.
Let us know if you have any questions.
